A brilliant combination of Bastion and Symmetra makes commentators and fans of Overwatch go wild – thanks to a Symmetra buff.
Although Overwatch is no longer a brand new game, there are still plays that surprise viewers and players alike, with strategies no one expected. A combination of Symmetra and Bastion has caused a stir, as it effectively countered the opposing team.
What happened? The team “Battle Gold” had to defend in the Ukatsu High School Esports League on the map “Volskaya Industries”. They chose Symmetra and Bastion as DPS heroes. Both are heroes that can deal extremely high damage. However, Bastion often only works if the entire team is built around him. Unless you use this strategy:
Symmetra created two portals on different platforms on the rooftops of Volskaya. Bastion switched into turret mode exactly on this portal, allowing him to fire on the enemies.
Once the opposing team feels secure, Bastion – still in turret form – jumps through the portal and changes his shooting angle. He repeats this several times until the opposing team is worn down and destroyed.
Have you noticed these “secret” buffs to two heroes?
Commentators are thrilled: Even the commentators can hardly contain their excitement during this play. “Oh my God, what am I seeing here? What am I seeing here?! This is a 200 IQ play!” You can also hear the spectators in the background, apparently also very impressed by this strategy.
Strategy is still relatively new: It is also important to know that this strategy has not been possible for long in this way. Not long ago, Symmetra received an update in a patch.
This meant that her portal can now remain active indefinitely – until it is destroyed. If opponents are unable to destroy the portal, Bastion can essentially switch between the two positions endlessly and keep firing at the enemies.
