The voice actress of D.Va is heating up the Overwatch fans. All indications point to a fresh cinematic!
Update: As Chung announced on Twitter, the reveal is neither a cinematic, nor a new skin, nor a comic, and not a restart of the Summer Games either. What it really is about and whether it is worth calling it a proper “announcement,” we will probably see tomorrow.

Apart from new heroes and maps, the players of Overwatch mainly wish for one thing: more story! Ideally wrapped in beautiful cinematics that capture the soul of a character with bombastic musical accompaniment.
However, since the release of “The Last Bastion,” which revolved around the eponymous character Bastion, and the video about Sombra, not much has happened.
On Twitter, the voice actress of D.Va, Charlet Chung, has now caused a stir among fans. She announced: “Reveal on Friday! Small teasers throughout the week. #hype”
What initially revealed no further information was quickly examined by the community on Reddit. It turns out that Chung has only recently started following the Senior Animator of Overwatch, which has fueled the fans’ hope for a new cinematic.
D.Va’s story has a lot of room for a cinematic
D.Va’s background definitely provides a lot of room, as Korea is attacked by a huge Omnic at regular intervals in the lore of Overwatch. This Omnic continuously evolves when it is defeated and then attacks with renewed ferocity. The MEKA unit was established to defend against it, which includes D.Va.
The whole thing is more than just loosely inspired by typical “mecha” animes, such as Neon Genesis Evangelion, but precisely because of this it provides plenty of room for exciting stories.
Whether there is really something to this “teaser,” or if Chung means something entirely different, we will probably only know tomorrow.
