New hints are accumulating on the PTR of Overwatch – apparently, the “Doomfist” will soon be stolen.
A new PTR for Overwatch includes changes to Bastion and Mercy. However, resourceful dataminers are breaking down the patch into its smallest parts and have found some new details that suggest the upcoming release of the next hero “Doomfist”.
Anyone who has taken a closer look at the payload on the map Numbani will have noticed that they are transporting nothing less than the legendary glove of Doomfist, which also appears in the first cinematic.
In its current form, the payload is well-guarded and, above all, quite intact. On the PTR, there is now an alternative form of the payload, where individual glass shards are visible, and the payload is damaged – the glove of Doomfist has apparently been taken, or there was an attempt to steal it.
For fans, it is clear what has been hinted at over the past weeks and months: Doomfist will be the next hero of Overwatch, and Numbani will be adjusted as soon as Doomfist is implemented as a playable character.
A new soundtrack has also been found in the game data, which many are already calling “Doomfist’s Theme” – essentially his music. The piece corresponds to an excerpt from the first cinematic and then transitions into the “menu” music – so it would be the perfect song for the login screen of Overwatch.
How exactly Doomfist looks and who will be the bearer of the glove remains to be seen. However, since the glove is apparently being stolen from secure storage, it seems that the “new” Doomfist might not be a nice guy.
There is only one question left: What exactly are we escorting in Numbani, now that the glove of Doomfist has been stolen?
