Has Blizzard revealed the date for the next hero of Overwatch in the “Masquerade” comic? One theory suggests so – and has good indications.
Doomfist hasn’t even fully arrived in Overwatch and already fans are speculating about when the next character will be introduced in Blizzard’s hero shooter.
On Reddit, OverwatchSarah wrote a post pointing out some details that feature in the latest comic “Masquerade” regarding Doomfist. Doomfist, Maximilien, and Widowmaker are in a casino. While Doomfist and Maximilien discuss Talon and important business, Widowmaker is gambling – and this is where the clue is buried.
As Amelie and the casino guy are conversing in French, many fans miss the nuances of the dialogue – but it’s mostly about numbers, and they are quite suspicious!

Widowmaker rolls a “seven” once and an “eleven” the next – then the casino omnic says, “Next player.” With a bit of imagination, his words could imply “07.11. next character”.
The date fits perfectly, as BlizzCon will take place this year on November 3rd and 4th. That would be the perfect time to announce a new hero, who would then appear on the PTR just three days later – namely on November 7th.
Whether there is any truth to this theory will only become clear in a few months. However, all signs point to it being more than just a coincidence, and Blizzard (as has happened many times before) has hidden an important detail in the comic.
“Masquerade” has hinted at many possible characters that could now make an appearance. There is the dark omnic Maximilien, as well as the other leaders of Talon who are seen in the background.
The comic has also raised more puzzles. Soldier: 76 may have worked for Talon!
