A new patch (1.18) of Overwatch has landed on the PTR. We’re here to reveal what’s new besides the fantastic “Blizzard World” map.
Although Moira and the associated patch 1.17 have only been live on Overwatch’s servers for a few days, Blizzard is already rolling out the next patch for testing. All PC players of Overwatch can now download the PTR client with the preliminary version of Patch 1.18.
The highlight of the patch is the new map Blizzard World. In the future of Overwatch, the gaming studio still exists and has even built its own amusement park. Here, fans of all ages from various franchises can meet their idols and favorite rivals, order fast food at “Snaxxramas”, or experience a griffon flight to Duskwood on a roller coaster.
In terms of gameplay, Blizzard World is a hybrid map, meaning it’s a mix of capturing a control point and then escorting a payload.
Only bug fixes beside Blizzard World
Otherwise, patch 1.18 currently only contains a lot of bug fixes and minor user interface improvements.
Especially some graphical issues with the newest hero Moira have been improved. Previously, there were occasional glitches where her eyebrows would wander off her body in highlight intros.
More annoyingly, there was a bug with her Biotic Orb – it occasionally displayed with the wrong graphics, creating the optical effect as if Moira was using her healing spray.
There are currently no balance changes in this update. However, it is quite possible that the patch may evolve before its release in a few weeks.
The next hero is already in discussion – it could be a Talon tank!
