Resourceful fans have found a hidden video in Overwatch. The hero in question has been in the game for a long time.
Hidden Easter Egg in Overwatch: Blizzard often plays with hidden content, known as Easter Eggs, in their games. One of these has now been discovered by resourceful fans with the hero Ana from Overwatch.
Hidden Video in the Highlights
The clip consists of highlight intros: Ana now has 4 highlight intros, which you can view through the hero gallery. This works even if you do not own them.
If you play the intros in a specific order, they create a short video clip that seems to be connected. The order is:
- “In the Crossfire”
- “Target Acquired”
- “Vigilant”
- and “Sh!”
When viewed in this sequence, the clips form about a 13-second video in which Ana is first shot at, then positions herself, is surprised, and finally puts the attacker to sleep.
How did people find this out? It is quite unlikely that someone stumbles upon something like this by accident. Highlight intros can only be seen at the end of a match, and only when you get the “Play of the Game”, meaning you have created a particularly memorable moment.
Reddit user MirrorMaster discovered the connection between the intros. In the related thread on reddit, a discussion followed. Users do not believe that the intros transition so smoothly by chance. The fact that they are so rarely seen is probably why not many people have discovered this connection yet.
One user also pointed out that Blizzard used the same sequence of intros in Ana’s reveal video. Only “In the Crossfire” is missing, which was implemented into the game only in early 2018.
Are there more? Overwatch started with 21 heroes and Ana was the first new hero implemented in July 2016 (“Hero 22”). Therefore, her Easter Egg was discovered quite late.
Other Easter Eggs have already been found by the community much earlier:
- Hammond “sings” a little tune when you hit the right bells in Dorado
- When Roadhog and Junkrat dance next to each other, they high five
- The map “Blizzard World” is packed with Easter Eggs
It is therefore very likely that there are still more discoveries to be made in Overwatch.
What about you? Have you found any Easter Eggs in Overwatch? What do you think might emerge?
