The “Year of the Rooster” event brings many new skins to Overwatch. We show you all the new hero costumes.
The hero shooter Overwatch has surprised its players – more or less – again with a fresh event. To celebrate the Year of the Rooster appropriately, there are plenty of new cosmetics that can be found in the temporary loot boxes. In addition to new highlight intros, emotes, and voicelines, there are also plenty of skins. We have captured all the new appearance variations for you in screenshots and sorted them by rarity.
The epic skins
Ana, Bastion, Junkrat, Mercy, Symmetra, and Tracer each receive an epic skin, which only has minor color changes. Those who do not want to rely on loot luck can also buy the epic skins individually for 750 credits each. (Click to enlarge)
The legendary skins
The legendary skins of D.Va, Mei, Reinhardt, Roadhog, Winston, and Zenyatta are significantly more impressive. The new designs strongly resemble Chinese deities and legendary figures – fitting for the event. Impatient players can purchase individual skins for a hefty 3,000 credits.
Until February 13, event boxes can be earned instead of the usual loot boxes. In the same period, it is also possible to buy the various event items for credits – after that, this opportunity will disappear again, presumably until next year.
Cortyn says: The two skins for Mei should be able to soothe the disappointment over the Christmas skin. However, those who do not appreciate the Asian style will likely not find joy in the different upgrades and may consider this event more of a nuisance. Personally, I particularly like the skin of D.Va and Symmetra – now I just have to hope for the luck of the loot boxes. I just hope that I stay strong and don’t just “throw money at the problem” – because loot boxes often tempt you to do so.
