In Overwatch , a first balance patch is coming. The changes affect D.Va and McCree.
Less damage for McCree, adjustments for D.Va in Overwatch
At the release of Overwatch, Blizzard was relatively satisfied with the balancing, after all, the release was preceded by a pretty long beta phase during which all heroes were tested for several months. However, with the current player numbers, some inconsistencies have emerged. The developers have now responded to fans’ criticism in the official forum.
Geoff Goodman, the Principal Designer of the game, agrees that McCree is currently a bit too strong. Especially the combination of the flashbang and right-click (firing all bullets still in the chamber) has proven to be too powerful, as even massive tanks melt away in a second.
Goodman has also addressed concerns regarding D.Va. Many players find her too weak because her damage is low and she has a quite large “critical hit zone,” which leads to her mech being destroyed quickly. It was made clear that D.Va’s low damage at range is indeed intentional, as otherwise she would be more of an offensive hero.
There may be adjustments to D.Va, but these are likely not to increase her damage. While no concrete plans are mentioned, an increase in her hit points or a reduced critical hit area would be good options to achieve the desired changes.
Brawl allows only Genji and Hanzo
Lastly, the game mode “Brawl” was changed last night. After “Arcade” was played last week, a mode in which all heroes had many hit points and short cooldowns, only “Super Shimada Bros.” is on the agenda. The game is played on the map Hanamura, and only Genji and Hanzo can be chosen as playable characters to finally decide which brother is stronger.
