Google has achieved tremendous success with its AI model Gemini 3. This is reported by the magazine Forbes.com. In key performance tests, Gemini 3 Pro is partly significantly ahead of the competition.
This has now prompted OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT. The AI experts are said to have declared an internal status of “Code Red”: The focus is to be entirely on ChatGPT while other projects are being canceled or at least paused for the time being. The fear seems to be great that they will fall behind Google. This is reported by the English-language magazine TomsHardware.com.

What is the reason for this? According to several reports, Gemini 3, Google’s AI model, is achieving significantly better results in several benchmarks than ChatGPT. This puts OpenAI under pressure, as they previously maintained an advantage over the competition with their AI model. However, this advantage is currently fading.
OpenAI and CEO Sam Altman see their dominance in AI threatened by Google, and the declared “Code Red” effectively means that OpenAI is reallocating internal resources from side projects like advertising formats, shopping agents, or a personal assistant (“Pulse”).
Instead, they want to focus back on the core functionalities of ChatGPT: speed, reliability, personalization, and a better understanding of logical reasoning.
Why is Gemini so successful? Google has several advantages to leverage for Gemini: It can combine its AI models with its own hardware (like “Ironwood” chips and TPUs) and the vast user base of its services, which reduces training and operating costs and accelerates deployment.
Furthermore, Google can embed Gemini closely into its search, Android, and apps like YouTube, Gmail, and Workspace, making it extremely accessible for everyday use. Every person using an Android device also uses some app from Google.
