In Fortnite, developers Epic Games released a new skin for the shop. However, it was so buggy that it was removed from the game after just 6 hours. Buyers are now waiting for compensation.
What was the skin? It was the outfit “Grill Sergeant.” A skin with the rarity “green” (uncommon), which was sold today for 800 V-Bucks.
Data miners had found the skin months ago, but it was now in the shop for the first time.
What was the problem with the skin?
- The skin was not visible to most players in the shop at all.
- If someone somehow purchased it, a different skin appeared in the confirmation box.
- Those who equipped it became practically invisible in the game. They had no body, only a floating head with the face of Jonesy.
This is how Epic Games reacted: Epic reacted hard and fast. About six hours after the skin went live, the following happened:
- The skin disappeared from the shop and was replaced by the “Recon Scout Skin.”
- Additionally, Epic removed the skin from all player accounts.
- Currently, players have not been refunded the V-Bucks they paid for it.
What does Epic say? Epic has currently only posted a short tweet acknowledging the problems. They plan to reach out when there is more information available.
Surely we will learn whether and when the strange skin returns, and what the compensation looks like. Epic is usually generous in such matters.
The Grill Sergeant is, by the way, the skin that is converted by the Tomato Sect in Fortnite (featured image).
When will we learn more? As soon as we learn more about the skin and what compensation is available, we will report it here on Mein MMO, likely even in this article. If you don’t want to miss any Fortnite news, subscribe to our dedicated Facebook page with 100% Fortnite.
