In May, it’s getting warm and cozy, but one or another MMO is also growing and thriving. Find out here which online games are particularly interesting in May.
May is a good month for MMOs, because unlike in summer, the weather is not always perfect for barbecuing and going outside, so you can play online games without feeling guilty when it is nice but still too cold outside.
Martial action games play a big role in May. Both the World War shooter Battlefield 1 and the online tank fun World of Tanks received important updates. In contrast, there is colorful fantasy with a new episode in Guild Wars 2 and an adorable festival in World of Warcraft.
World of Tanks – The Rise of the Troll Artillery
The tank game World of Tanks received one of the most extensive and profound updates in its history with the inconspicuously named Update 9.18. Two acute annoyances were tackled here: artillery and matchmaking. The former has always been a headache in Wargaming’s online game. Sometimes it was too weak, sometimes too strong. Recently, self-propelled guns were absolutely feared because they could “oneshot” even heavy tanks with just one shot – and from a safe distance!
Therefore, the nasty artillery has been neutralized. The mobile guns now deal less damage. Their role as a DD has been completely eliminated! Instead, they will now be support units. Artillery shells cause, with Update 9.18, alongside a bit of damage, primarily shock to the crew. This means that affected tanks will have less visibility for a while, hit worse, and reload more slowly. An immense tactical advantage, which better integrates artillery into the team and turns them into true troll cannons.
World of Tanks – Finally Fairer Matches
Until now, battles in World of Tanks were a game of chance. If you got lucky, you ended up in a team of the same tier or even had a higher tier than the opponents. That was cool, and you could farm the small tanks. But it could also go the other way, and you were the fool because, as a pathetic mini-tank, you had no chance against the big tanks.
The new matchmaking now allows a maximum deviation of two tiers and, if at all possible, forms the teams according to the 3/5/7 formula, meaning a maximum of 3 high-tier, 5 medium-tier, and 7 low-tier tanks per team. This way, as a small tank, you are always in the majority, and as a heavy tank, you are always a rarity. Also cool: light tanks are now available at Tier 10. You no longer have to play with tiny tanks at the highest tier.
On page two, continue with war and tanks!
