In One Piece, unfortunately, not all stories find their place. But especially when it comes to one of the most popular pirates, you want to know as much as possible, right?
What kind of story is this? The story centers around swordsman Zoro. His backstory will soon be told in a novel. On July 3, 2026, the story will be released as a printed version.
Under the name “One Piece novel Zoro”, the story will initially only be available in Japanese. However, previous novels have shown that it takes about one to two years for them to be translated into other languages, including German.
The story comes from author Yun Esaka, not from the original One Piece author, Eiichiro Oda. The story was published in chapters in the One Piece magazine, starting with issue 18. Now it will be available as a collected work.
Fans Experience: Zoro is a Beginner as a Pirate Hunter
What happens within the story? Almost 30 years ago, there was a chapter in the One Piece manga where the pirate hunter Zoro was convinced to join the Straw Hat crew. Since then, he has become one of the most popular characters in the crew and remains loyal to Luffy.
However, what happened before his time with the pirate crew was never shown in the manga. We only know that he lost an important friend as a child and therefore set out to become the greatest swordsman of all time.
The novel takes place a few years after the tragic death of Kuina, Zoro’s childhood friend. At this time, Zoro engages in duels with other swordsmen and begins to leave his village. He sets out to hunt down Dracule Mihawk, the best swordsman in One Piece. In the novel, he also visits the museum dedicated to Mihawk.
In general, it is exciting to see who will ultimately be the best swordsman in One Piece: Mihawk or Zoro. A new detail about Mihawk was revealed recently: he was once a hunter, but not for pirates. The creator of One Piece reveals new details about the world’s best swordsman
