Ruffy has assembled a substantial crew over the course of One Piece. Not all of his crew members have eaten a Devil Fruit, but many do not need to. MeinMMO ranks the Straw Hats based on their combat power and explains why some of Ruffy’s crew members are more battle-hardened than others.
Attention, Spoilers: We assess the powers of the Straw Hat crew based on the current status of the manga. If you have not yet read the events during and after Wano Kuni, you should return at a later time.
Which members were considered? We include all members of Ruffy’s Straw Hat crew who regularly appear on the Flying Lamb or Thousand Sunny. This means we do not consider alliance partners or specific princesses in the ranking.
Additionally, we have counted all members up to chapter 1,096. Thus, there are more people than in the Netflix series, for example.
What criteria were used for the ranking? The places were assigned based on,
- what abilities the Straw Hats have
- whether there were special events where they showed their true potential
- how high the bounty of each pirate is
For each character, we describe what abilities they have in combat and which stronger opponents they have already defeated on their own.
Place 10: Nami
- Bounty: 366.000.000 Berry
Nami has, apart from Chopper, who is regarded as the pet of the Straw Hat crew, the lowest bounty. As a navigator, she occupies one of the most important positions in the ship’s crew, but she is not a capable fighter.
With her manipulative nature, she has occasionally managed to turn fights in her favor. For instance, she was able to convince King Baum to fight on her side.
Besides the clima-tact that Lysop made for her, she can defend herself with the help of Zeus the cloud. This allows her to shock multiple opponents and defend herself in both close and long-range combat.
Place 9: Lysop
- Bounty: 500.000.000 Berry
Lysop is known as the marksman of the Straw Hat crew. He is a clumsy liar who has managed to save himself in many battles primarily through cheap tricks. Ghost Princess Perona and Sugar were only defeated because Lysop scared them.
However, he is a creative mind when it comes to his ammunition. His repertoire includes various plant and flame attacks, which he can use against different opponents.
We ranked Lysop higher than Nami as he possesses Observation Haki. In Dressrosa, he was able to sense the aura of others, thereby expanding his field of vision, which is beneficial as a sharpshooter. He is also one of the fastest Straw Hats when it comes to running away.
Place 8: Chopper
- Bounty: 1.000 Berry
Tony Chopper is mistakenly regarded by the Marine as the pet of the Straw Hat crew. He is one of the members of the Straw Hat crew who has eaten a Devil Fruit. However, his Devil Fruit only allows him to speak with humans and take on a humanoid reindeer form.
As the ship’s doctor, he has an important role within the crew. He primarily uses his medical knowledge for the Rumble Balls, through which he can change his appearance and thus achieve enormous combat abilities.
Tony Chopper will probably be the next member in the Netflix series:
After the time skip, he can even achieve many of the forms without Rumble Balls. His greatest strength is his monster form, where he turns into a gigantic reindeer. Thanks to Caesar Clown, Chopper was able to significantly improve the Rumble Ball so that he can control the form for up to 30 minutes.
