In the manga of One Piece, author Eiichiro Oda concluded the Egghead arc with a big bang. This big bang was predicted by a German YouTuber eight months earlier in a theory video.

What theory is being discussed? YouTuber Genso – One Piece presented his theory on January 3, 2024, that the Gorosei St. Saturn could be replaced by Figarland Garling, the former champion of God Valley. In chapter 1125 What do we see as death?

St. Saturn survives the battle with the Straw Hats on Egghead but suffers a clear defeat. During a meeting with his officers, he is enveloped in black smoke and dies. It is heavily implied that the mysterious Im personally kills him.
At the same time, Figarland Garling is introduced to the remaining four Gorosei in Mary Joa, who will now take over St. Saturn’s position.
Although Eiichiro Oda had announced that the Egghead arc would end with a big bang, hardly anyone probably expected the death of one of the Gorosei.

Does St. Saturn survive? The YouTuber didn’t think so
How did he come up with the theory? Genso – One Piece himself still calls his theory wild in January 2024. Specifically, he explains in nearly 19 minutes of video his thoughts on how things might proceed with St. Saturn and Garling.
He specifically suggested:
- St. Saturn should actually survive the battle on Egghead, as he is an opponent for the future. But his failure in battle against the Straw Hats could anger Im extremely.
- Things are slowly approaching the end of the story, and opponents like the Gorosei must also be brought down. Would St. Saturn, who has already lost or could have lost on Egghead, still be a serious opponent in the final battle?
- The best replacement would be Figarland Garling:
- He is one of only two world aristocrats appearing in the arc.
- He was the executioner of St. Don Quichotte Miosgard.
- He is the former champion of God Valley.
- It is unclear whether the Gorosei are immortal and have been collaborating in this configuration since the founding of the World Government, or if they have been replaced in the meantime.
- Emporio Ivankov from the Revolutionaries says there have always been Gorosei since the 100 empty years.
- The Gorosei have stated themselves that some stories are just myths to them now.
- The Gorosei in their current configuration can only be traced back up to 22 years in the manga and anime – they react to the Buster Call on Ohara. During the God Valley incident, only St. Saturn is seen.

Which parts of the theory are confirmed? In chapter 1125 of One Piece, what the YouTuber suspected happens: Im personally kills St. Saturn, and Garling is introduced as his replacement.
The rest of the theory, such as the immortality of the Gorosei and how normal
it is for members to be exchanged, remains open.
Predicting such a significant event in One Piece eight months in advance is quite an achievement. Of course, Eiichiro Oda still has a lot of other mysteries in store.
