If you want to watch the latest episodes of One Piece, you previously had to subscribe to Crunchyroll. There, you can find the very latest episodes from Japan in simulcast – a new episode is available every Sunday at 9:00 AM. But now fans have the opportunity to watch the anime on another streaming service.
Where can I watch One Piece soon? Starting tomorrow, it will be possible to watch the latest episodes of One Piece on Netflix. We are not talking about the live-action series or the remake – the new episodes come from the original series, which has been running as an anime since 1999.
The English-speaking Netflix account had confirmed just a few days ago that One Piece would be added to the program. However, we now have confirmation that the anime will also be available in Germany:
It is not known how many episodes will be available on Netflix. Netflix Anime only refers to the Egghead Arc, which has only just started in the anime. If it works similarly to Crunchyroll, there might be a new episode from Japan released weekly.
We do not currently know if further episodes from older arcs will also be added to the program. Anime expert NinotakuTV assumes that only the current arc will be available on Netflix for the time being.
As the German dubbing is still in the middle of the Wano Country arc, we assume that the episodes will be offered in the Japanese language with German subtitles. There is currently no official confirmation.
The Egghead Arc has a new opening, which you can watch here:
Netflix or Crunchyroll – Which streaming service is worth it for One Piece
Who is Netflix One Piece worth it for? Worldwide, more people have a subscription to Netflix than to Crunchyroll. In 2022, Crunchyroll had almost 10 million subscribers (via AnimationBusiness). During the same period, Netflix had more than 230 million subscribers (via Statista).
Therefore, there is a high chance that you also have a subscription to Netflix rather than to Crunchyroll. If you are only using Crunchyroll for One Piece and already have an account with Netflix, you can safely cancel Crunchyroll and save costs.
However, there is a minor downside: If the weekly release schedule remains, the new episodes will always be available on Netflix a week later than on Crunchyroll. For example, currently, we can watch the latest episode of the Egghead Arc on Crunchyroll, but not on Netflix.
Also, you should base your decision on which subscription model interests you at each provider. With Crunchyroll, you pay between 6.99 € and 9.99 € per month. With Netflix, the prices start at 4.99 € per month, but the upper limit is 17.99 € per month.
So think carefully about which series and movies interest you and which subscription you would like to use with each provider. We can at least recommend you a great anime on Crunchyroll that also releases weekly: New anime impresses with a young pharmacist, and I look forward to each new episode
