The German streamer “ohnePixel” (26) is the second largest streamer worldwide for Counter-Strike 2 on Twitch. In recent years, his channel has grown rapidly and steadily on Twitch. When he streams, 20,000 people watch him. But since August 30, he has been missing. Now he is reaching out to his fans with a guilty conscience. He hasn’t fled from streaming, but from everything else.
This is the career of ohnePixel on Twitch: ohnePixel has had his channel on Twitch since 2013. But only since 2021 has he been streaming regularly, and since then he’s really taken off on Twitch. He mainly showcases the shooter Counter-Strike. He played Elden Ring in June for a break.
His growth is impressive: In 2021, he had an average of 630 viewers on Twitch, in 2022 there were 3,300, in 2023 he had 14,710 viewers, and in the last 365 days, there were even 20,323 (via sullygnome). His career is clearly on the rise.
At the end of 2023, ohnePixel launched his own marketplace for skins in Counter-Strike 2, but that evidently turned out to be too much stress for the German who streams in English in the long run.
Streamer accidentally takes a 40-day break
Since when has he been gone? The last stream of ohnePixel was on August 30, then he intended to take a 7-day break, which is usual for him. But suddenly he was gone for 40 days.
Now he has reached out to his fans on Twitter.
The 26-year-old says: He actually wanted to be back streaming daily for a long time, but something always got in the way. He realized that his passport had expired, which he needed to renew for a trip to China. Additionally, there’s always more to do to keep his business relationships running.
He has so much on his plate. ohnePixel says: He is so disappointed in himself that he lost control and just disappeared. It would have simply been enough to say: “I’ll be gone for a while.”
He kept telling himself: “Just one more day, I’ll stream again tomorrow,” but more and more kept piling up. And ultimately, he was annoyed that he disappointed his community that he had built over 5 years. The community became increasingly dissatisfied with him and his long break, which caused the fear of returning to Twitch to grow.
The stress and fear kept increasing, and suddenly we are on day 40.
Is he coming back? Yes, he tells his fans not to worry. He still loves streaming. He did not run away from streaming, but from all the other stuff that felt overwhelming.
In any case, ohnePixel reassures his fans that he will be back soon.
Fans apparently understand the break very well
What’s behind it: It sounds like ohnePixel has maneuvered himself into a situation with his own skin shop and everything that comes with it, where the business became overwhelming. When you are also on Twitch for 4-8 hours daily, the day doesn’t have enough hours. Such a planned 7-day vacation then feels so cozy and warm that it’s hard to return to the stressful everyday life.
One can certainly understand such a break after years of hard work.
In any case, the fans seem to understand. In one comment, it says: “Buddy, you owe nothing to the people. If you need time, take it for yourself. When you take care of yourself, you’re a good example for everyone.”
