At the Opening Night Live of the gamescom 2025, the announcement of Lords of the Fallen 2 was made. The sequel to the action RPG from 2023 impresses again in the first trailer with its dark fantasy setting and great visuals.
What do we know about Lords of the Fallen 2? The action RPG is set to be released in 2026 for PC (exclusive to Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series. Whether it will have a Steam release at a later date is currently unclear. However, it seems likely, as the predecessor from 2023 is available on Steam.
The soulslike aims to offer a fast-paced, action-packed combat system, a torn open world, a delightfully dark fantasy setting, and ruthless bosses once again. The first trailer provides a nice first impression, with some Elden Ring vibes AND tentacles – so there will also be cosmic horror in the style of Cthulhu:
Successor to a strong soulslike
What do I need to know about Lords of the Fallen? While the first Lords of the Fallen from 2014 came from the German studio Deck 13, the second part struggled through a long development hell, with several developing studios. Despite a strong foundation, the launch version of 2023 showed signs of this difficult development time. Accordingly, the reviews were mixed at first.
CI Games, however, continued to work on the game and with the 2.0 version at the latest, created a great soulslike that represents a strong alternative to the originals from FromSoftware – with a mostly positive rating on Steam.
How does the community react to the announcement? Under the trailer on YouTube, there are already many fan reactions.
- iScarletBashar writes on YouTube: “I’m so glad I gave Lords of the Fallen a chance, and now I’m definitely going to get it.”
- rezo856 celebrates: “I loved the game Lords of the Fallen 2023 so much. It’s clearly my second favorite souls game after Elden Ring. I’m really excited for Lords of the Fallen 2. I’m so glad it’s coming out.”
- im-_-dubz is skeptical: “Very nice, it will be almost playable a year after the launch.”
