For over 12 years, fans have been waiting for a new installment of a celebrated shooter. Now, an important executive is moving to the competition.
Who is it about? According to the English-language magazine IGN, Liz Albl has left the developer studio “Cloud Chamber.” The American developer was there for nearly 3 years as Narrative Director and was responsible for the story of BioShock 4.
The BioShock series is considered one of the best single-player shooters in history and has many fans worldwide. On the review platform Metacritic, particularly BioShock (1) and BioShock Infinite shine with an average rating of over 90 (94 and 96).
Before Albl joined Cloud Chamber, she was already involved in some prestigious titles during her career, including Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Far Cry 4 and 5, as well as Ghost of Tsushima.

Which competitor is she moving to? Liz Albl has been working for the Polish developer and publisher CD Project Red since November 2025. The company is especially known for the role-playing games of The Witcher series as well as Cyberpunk 2077.
As revealed by the LinkedIn profile of the developer, Albl is now a “Senior Writer” at CD Project Red and is working on Cyberpunk 2. This is the unofficial name of the successor to Cyberpunk 2077, the critically acclaimed RPG from 2020.
Not much is known about Cyberpunk 2 yet, but the creator of the underlying pen-and-paper has already leaked a possible detail months ago.
What about BioShock 4? It has been over 12 years since the release of the most recent installment, BioShock Infinite. A release date for BioShock 4 is still nowhere in sight.
Liz Albl joined the development of the shooter in 2022, which was already announced in 2019. However, BioShock 4 is not being developed by the original BioShock studio, Irrational Games, which is now known as Ghost Story Games. The studio, led by BioShock creator Ken Levine, is currently working on a new IP called Judas.
