The third PUBG (PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds) map has now been presented for the first time. It is significantly smaller than its predecessors and is intended to bring more intense matches.
In the near future, you will be able to play the new PUBG map, which was presented for the first time at the Game Developers Conference. With the reduced playing area, matches are expected to run faster.
4×4 instead of 8×8 – Smaller map, faster matches?
After only artwork of the new map circulated initially, the developers are now showing deeper insights into the third PUBG map at the GDC event.
It seems that the map has a tropical vibe. Additionally, we see new houses in the presentation that we do not know from the previous maps Erangel and Miramar. In the following tweet, you see a part of the presentation.
PUBG Chief Brendan “PlayerUnknown” Greene explains that the new battleground is only 4×4 kilometers in size. Erangel and Miramar are 8×8 kilometers in size. On the new map, everything is much closer together, and players will encounter each other much faster. The new map, which currently has no official name, is expected to provide for more intense matches due to its smaller size.
Further images of the gameplay on the map are available in the developers’ video. They explain that the map will be ready for testing in early April. Together with the players, the area will be optimized. However, it is unclear whether the tests will take place only on PC or also on Xbox One.
More new content is coming to you through the event mode. In these time-limited custom games, the games are supposed to play out differently. The first testing phase of the PUBG event mode brings 8-player squads!
