Would you farm a pet multiple times in your chosen MMORPG that has a drop chance of only 0.00143 percent? And that even if there is no achievement or other benefit? Well, one player has not only done it, but for him, the grind has gone “a little“ out of control.
Which pet is it? It is a beaver pet from Old School RuneScape. You can obtain it with a certain chance when you use your woodcutting skill. On average, you need to process a smooth 72,321 logs to get one beaver. This results in a drop chance of 0.00143 percent.
With such numbers, it seems certain that many long-time players of the MMORPG classic have never seen one or never more than one or two beavers. However, one certain West Stairs has seen a lot of these pets and welcomed his 193rd beaver into his pet collection on August 3, 2025 (Source: X).
“More Beavers”
What is behind the grind? To chop enough wood for 193 beavers, you have to invest countless hours. How much, West Stairs revealed to gamesradar.com: His woodcutter twink has a playtime of 552 days. You should note that woodcutting in Old School RuneScape works really well in a “semi-AFK” manner.
Initially, West Stairs only planned to farm resources while doing homework and other things. Then he decided to max out the skill. When he saw that this increased the drop chance for beavers by 15 times (to a nearly luxurious 0.02147 percent), he wanted to become the player with the most beavers.
You should know:
- There are no achievements or other rewards for owning 50, 100, or 200 beavers.
- While the pet interface allows you to track how many beavers you have found overall, you can only own and summon one at a time. Each new beaver replaces the previous one.
- Since the player reached the XP maximum of 200 million experience points for the woodcutting skill, he no longer receives additional XP. West Stairs himself assumes that he must have accumulated more than 500 million XP by now.
- The counter for the pet collection is supposed to stop at 250 (though there is currently no player who has mastered this number for any pet yet). However, West Stairs presumably still wants to reach this milestone. Until then, the player’s motto on X is: “More Beavers”.
How does the community react to the grind? Many players can’t believe it.
