In Destiny 2 every power level counts right now. However, the sources for powerful gear and top loot are currently quite limited. But now players have accidentally discovered a glitch that apparently allows an old raid to grant powerful loot again. We’ve taken a look at what’s going on and what Bungie has to say about it.
Originally, only the latest raid “The Oryx’s Curse”, which goes live on March 5th, was supposed to grant players top loot again. However, some Guardians have noticed that this is currently not entirely accurate. An old raid is now also granting better loot, and this seems to be a gameplay bug.
Which raid are we talking about? We’re referring to the “Beyond Light” raid “The Deep Stone Crypt.” At the launch of the legacy raid “The Glass Lair” in May 2021, the Deep Stone Crypt was automatically rotated out of the top sources for powerful loot.
While you could still earn the raid armor and weapons, the drops were no longer helpful for increasing your power level. However, this is no longer the case, as players have now surprisingly discovered.
How good is the loot?
According to reports from players, the loot should be quite decent.
- The encounters in the Deep Stone Crypt are said to drop powerful loot, meaning +3.
- In the final boss encounter with Taniks, you can even grab powerful loot with +5. That would be top loot.
However, you should note that this +5 drop will likely not raise you above the magical power cap of 1,550.
What does Bungie say about this? This unexpected loot luck is indeed a bug. Cozmo, the lead community manager at Bungie, spoke about it on Twitter.
Bungie confirms that it is a bug and states that the fix will only come after the launch of the latest raid “The Oryx’s Curse”. For players, this means there is now another source for powerful loot for leveling up, and it’s perfectly fine to take advantage of it while it’s possible.
So if you want to level up a bit more, this gives you a new and unexpected loot source. This way, you might be able to pull some more power for your Guardian before the launch of the latest raid “The Oryx’s Curse.”
How long will this loot source be available? However, you should hurry. In addition to confirming the glitch, Bungie also stated that they plan to address this issue “sometime after the Worlds-First race.” So this source won’t always be available to you.
