The team behind Stellar Blade has a reason to celebrate. Their game has sold over 3 million copies on the PS5 as well as on Steam in total. The developers are to be rewarded, and not cheaply.
How were the developers rewarded? Now that Stellar Blade has become accessible to PC gamers, and with the port, also access to mods, the action-adventure game from SHIFT UP Corporation has now sold over 3 million copies (via X).
The boss does not want to leave this unrewarded and is taking care of gifts for each of the over 300 employees. And he is not stingy, but gifts them the coveted Switch 2, which he brings into the studio stacked on luggage carts.

Here you can see the trailer for Stellar Blade:
“Seems to be a great workplace”
Is there a hidden hint in the gifts? On Reddit, the Switch 2 as a gift to all employees is not seen just as a reward. Some players suspect that there is more behind it:
“So… is a port for the Switch 2 coming?”, writes Responsible_Law3761 in response to the gifted Nintendo consoles and is not the only one with this thought, according to the over 100 upvotes. However, this hypothesis has not been officially confirmed or denied anywhere so far.
In the past, the developers of Stellar Blade have also been rewarded with such gifts.
How have the developers been compensated so far? The Switch 2 consoles were not the first expensive gifts distributed to all employees. In 2021, all developers received a PS5 and in January of this year a PS5 Pro was gifted. Therefore, this action is not too surprising, but still impressive.
- “Shift Up seems to treat its employees very well and seems to be a great workplace!”, says @Genki_JPN.
- “Ah, there is the truckload of stolen Switch 2”, comments @TheRealKonqrr.
- “Korean developers gift their employees a Switch 2, and western developers gift their employees layoffs”, writes @GWAPO42.
Since Stellar Blade is now also accessible on Steam for PC, players are now able to mod the game as they please. It is no surprise that many of these mods relate to the characters and their portrayal, which has been anticipated by many players since the announcement of the PC version. When the boss was asked about his opinion on NSFW mods, he had a clear stance: The boss of Stellar Blade approves of your “18+” mods, but one type of mod is a complete no-go
