In the next role-playing game of Warhammer 40,000, you will now play as a member of the Inquisition. Soon, a new, large companion will accompany you, who can not only take a lot but can also dish it out well.
Which companion is being referred to? From December 16, 2025, a new companion will be able to fight by your side in Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy, a big and loyal guy who is deeply loyal to the Imperium of Man. We are talking about “Conscript 0-118-B”, also known as Cogg.
Cogg is an Ogryn, a subspecies of Abhumans that are particularly robust and strong but not particularly intelligent. Cogg is not blessed with strong intellect either, but thanks to a biochemical Ogryn neural enhancement (BONE) and a skull implant, he is still a bit smarter and faster than others of his kind.
Here you can see the trailer for Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy:
A brutal giant that has more depth than expected
What else do we know about Cogg? The Ogryn served in the shock troops of the Astra Militarum and was considered an unstoppable killing machine due to his fierce strength and indestructibility, not shying away from obstacles or injuries. After a tragic incident, for which no further details have been revealed so far, he remained in Hive Sibelius to wither away. But the Inquisitor intervened, giving new meaning to his life.
When Dark Heresy is released, Cogg will be fully voiced. However, who will lend him their voice will be revealed at a later time. Starting December 16, he will finally be playable in the alpha version on Steam and will fight on the side of the savior who spared him from his decay.
What else do we know about the other companions in Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy? In addition to Cogg the Ogryn, you will have other companions available, such as an experienced guardsman from the Death World Catachan or a bird-like Kroot mercenary.
In the classic SRPG style, for which the developer Owlcat is already known, you can form and control your group from the recruited characters with up to four companions. There will also be fully voiced dialogues and even romances.
The developer Owlcat has already proven with Rogue Trader that the Warhammer 40,000 universe can be quite reasonably linked to an RPG. It remains exciting to see how this will look with its successor. In the exclusive interview with Webedia, which also includes MeinMMO, Executive Producer Anatoly Shestov answers some questions that arose about the new RPG: In the new RPG for Warhammer 40,000, you are not a bred superhuman, but at least just as dangerous
