In Apex Legends there is a trick that some Fortnite fans have been wishing for a long time. The Double Shotgun!
What is the Double Shotgun? The Double Shotgun or Double Pump refers to a trick that used to significantly shorten the reload animation of a shotgun in Fortnite.
You simply took two pump shotguns and instead of reloading, you switched to the second shotgun. This took less time and you could shoot again immediately.
Why was the Double Shotgun a problem? Many players loved this trick and wiped out entire squads with it. They built their entire strategy around the Double Shotgun. Other players found it quite silly and considered the “trick” an exploit and unfair.
Eventually, it became too much for Epic, and they made the Double Shotgun trick impossible with several patches. But now the Double Pump is apparently back, but not in Fortnite!
Shoot faster with the Peacekeeper
This is how the Double Pump works in Apex: In Apex Legends, you do not need to have two shotguns. Instead, it is sufficient to have a Peacekeeper shotgun and quickly stow the weapon after firing and then shoot again immediately.
This skips the reload animation and allows for a much faster fire frequency than if you were to reload regularly.
The Shotgun trick in the video: The YouTuber Mendosukaii shows the whole procedure here in a video. He basically proceeds as follows:
- He fires with the left mouse button
- Then immediately presses 3 to stow the weapon
- Afterwards, he immediately presses 1 to draw it again
- Next, he fires again with the left mouse button.
The sequence is: Left Mouse, 3, 1, Left Mouse.
Is the Shotgun trick okay? Since the developers intentionally implemented the reload time of the Peacekeeper into the game, this trick is surely not intended. So expect that there will soon be a patch in Apex that removes the “Double Shotgun” again.
