The journey is over for the Free2Play action game Nosgoth. The servers are shutting down.
Nosgoth is an asymmetric online multiplayer third-person shooter. And as of May 31, the sentence will be put in past tense.
As Square Enix states, the journey is over. On May 31, the servers will close. Those who have purchased anything since March 1 will receive a refund. Now, both old and new players can still play until the end, but they will not leave any money in the game, the possibility to do so is closed.
The team thanks for the support over the years, expressing how sad they are. The reason given for the closure is that the player numbers simply have not grown enough to justify further operation.
Nosgoth is an Unreal Engine 3 game for Windows, intended as a spinoff of the action-adventure series Legacy of Kain. In Nosgoth, the melee-specialized “Vampires” faced off against the ranged “Humans”.
The game started in January 2015 in an open beta. It does not end with a release, but with the closure.
