What happened to Blue Protocol? The MMORPG Blue Protocol was supposed to have a global release, but then in August 2024 came the news, the servers in Japan will be shut down and the release cancelled.
A shock for many fans from the West, as they were looking forward to the game. However, it seems that it is not the end for Blue Protocol, as the giant company Tencent has secured the rights from Bandai Namco and developed a spin-off of Blue Protocol – Blue Protocol: Star Resonance.
It is also an MMORPG, but the game has a different story. In a Q&A with the founder of the studio “Shanghai Bokura Network Technology”, IGN asked some important questions for Western players, and the answers might please you.
No P2W and focus on PvE
What can players expect? Every MMORPG has its areas it wants to explore. Either the games focus on PvE and PvP or one of the two. Blue Protocol: Star Resonance aims to focus first on PvE. It is supposed to have a casual gameplay hybrid model. The team then collects feedback from the fans and decides after release whether they want to venture into other areas, such as PvP.
Another concern of the players was whether there would be P2W mechanics that would allow other players to buy advantages with money to speed up their progress. Here too, the founder clarifies the discussion again. There will be a “pay for convenience” option, where fans can exchange their currencies. However, none of these features offers a gameplay advantage, assures the founder. These systems are mainly intended for those who have little gaming time available.
In terms of content, fans can look forward to 5-player dungeons and 20-player raids. Those who do not want anything to do with endgame can also look forward to relaxing activities like housing, fishing, or seasonal activities that rotate and can also offer freshness to veterans.
