The long development phase of No Man’s Sky is now officially over. No Man’s Sky goes Gold.

With these words, Sean Murray, the founder of Hello Games, reported a few hours ago via Twitter. He also tweeted a picture showing him and his team in a celebratory mood. However, the star of this picture is a Blu-Ray disc, labeled “No Man’s Sky,” which is proudly held up to the camera.

But what exactly does “No Man’s Sky goes Gold” mean? With this expression, the development studio celebrates the milestone they have achieved with the space simulation. It means: No Man’s Sky is completed.

For all the hopeful fans, this is good news. No Man’s Sky is set to be released next month for PC and PS4. Apparently, nothing stands in the way of this release date now.

A few weeks ago, the game had to be postponed. Originally, the launch was planned for June. However, it was decided to choose a later date as the team wanted to make some final adjustments.

Sean Murray has spoken more frequently directly to the community in recent weeks, emphasizing that he has never seen a team work so hard. No Man’s Sky is the most challenging project of his life. And while the game will be much larger than we could imagine, it is backed by a team that is much smaller than we would suspect. No other team has attempted such a game before.

Just yesterday, we reported that No Man’s Sky is according to an Amazon poll the most anticipated game of 2016. The excitement of the fans is huge – but the developers’ joy over “No Man’s Sky goes Gold” is overwhelming.

No Man’s Sky is set to be released in Europe on August 10 for PlayStation 4 and PC.
