In No Man’s Sky, PC players can address the issues by downloading a patch. However, it is still “experimental”.
No Man’s Sky had a remarkable launch, providing the largest launch in 2016 on Steam. Despite this success, everything in the space simulation is not going smoothly. PC players are complaining about numerous performance issues, which significantly affect the gaming experience. Hello Games is responding.
Two solutions for the problems
The developers are currently providing two solutions that can alleviate frustration at least. To make No Man’s Sky run smoother on PC, you can work through this list of workarounds on the Steam Community Hub. Here you will find provisional solutions to frame rate issues, stuttering, or texture flickering.
If these workarounds do not help you, you can also resort to “drastic measures”: An “Experimental Branch” version is available, which is still being tested, and Hello Games is still uncertain if it is ready for the general public. In this “beta patch”, some performance optimizations are being addressed. Additionally, mouse stuttering, shader caching, and game crashes when exiting via Alt-Tab are being revised.
A release date for this patch for the “normal version” of No Man’s Sky has not yet been announced.If you want to participate in the experimental phase, proceed as follows:
- Go to the Steam game library and right-click on the game name.
- Select “Properties” and click on the “Betas” tab.
- Enter the code “3xperimental”.
- An option for the Experimental Branch will be unlocked in the pull-down menu. Now Steam will download the new version.
If you want to play the normal version again, you can deactivate the test version at this point through the pull-down menu.
