The Nintendo Switch is already over 6 years old, and many are finally expecting information about a successor console. However, there are constantly rumors and leaks about performance, appearance, or games. Insiders reveal more details about new ports and an old acquaintance.
Due to the relatively old age of the Switch, more and more rumors and alleged leaks about a new Nintendo console are emerging. This includes supposed dev kits for developers as well as planned games.
As Twitter user Stealth40K summarizes, there are rumors about new games that reveal something about the possible performance of a new Switch. Allegedly, Far Cry 7
is set to launch directly on the new Nintendo console, and a new Donkey Kong
game is also in development.
The new 2D Mario will be available to play soon:
Performance for Next-Gen PC Games
Nintendo journalist Necro wrote on Twitter that Far Cry 7 should be available at launch on the next Nintendo console, and according to him, a new Monster Hunter should also be launched on this console.
If Far Cry 7 indeed appears on the new Switch, it indicates significantly better performance than the current console, and Nintendo could also benefit from major releases from third-party titles. The announcement of new CoDs on the Switch would also fit into this narrative.
However, the other two rumors are likely to be more interesting for Nintendo fans. As reported by User Zippo in his blog, a new 3D Mario and a 2D Donkey Kong spin-off are in development.
The alleged 3D Mario is supposed to be oriented towards the new Zelda titles, featuring an open world and incredibly good graphics. Additionally, this title is expected to be a launch title for the new console, according to Zippo.
The Donkey Kong
game in development is being created by the team behind Bowser’s Fury
.
The rumors should be taken with caution. One should still not get too excited. As Jeuxvideo writes, Zippo is not always reliable as an insider. Many of his information he tends to change quite often. The rumor of a new 3D Mario is not a big surprise and almost to be expected.
Much more interesting are the rumors around Far Cry 7 and a new Monster Hunter on a new Switch. If a new Nintendo console were to deliver such performance, it could compete not only with great first-party games but also in the third-party arena against the big players.

For a new Nintendo console, the question of backward compatibility is also important, and whether it ends up like the 3DS:
