There is little gameplay to see of the new MMO New World. The game hasn’t properly launched yet. However, for the past few days, snippets can be followed on Twitter. Together with the community, the developers are building an interactive story. The first story did not end well.
What is happening on Twitter? On January 3rd, New World published a tweet showing a short video of a newly created character sitting by a campfire.
In a survey, they wanted to know from the community where the journey should go. Options were inland or the beach. The players chose the beach.
From there, further small videos and related surveys followed. Depending on what the majority of players chose, the story continued in new branches.
After a long and eventful journey, you find yourself on the shores of the mysterious island of Terra Vitae Aeternum.
You’ve managed to build yourself a fire, but you’ve no food, nor supplies to fashion rudimentary tools with.

How did the first story end? In the third survey, players chose to attack a monster instead of fleeing from it. The monster defeated the player.
The developers then stated that attacking without armor and only with a wooden sword was very reckless.

Do players make the same mistake in the second story?
Meanwhile, the developers have started a second story. This is currently ongoing, and you can still help decide the outcome.
Support from the developers: In the second tweet about the new story, the developers have eliminated a source of error. They have condemned the character to farm materials and equip themselves.
You decide that being properly equipped is the better part of valor and set out to craft armor and a stronger weapon.

Will the outpost be our death? However, already in the subsequent survey, the community gets to decide again. Do they prefer to explore the north or enter the outpost directly ahead.
Currently, the outpost is leading in the survey. Let’s hope that not the next overpowering enemy awaits there.
New Alpha Invitations
Amazon also announced via Twitter that a new wave of invitations for the alpha has been sent out. If you would like to sign up for the alpha as well, you can find all important information here.
The alpha is under NDA: The alpha is under strict NDA, and much has not yet surfaced. Only one alpha player has revealed to an Italian website more about the MMO and possible RPG elements.
