In New World, fishing bots can be quite a nuisance. You can see them by ponds, but you can’t take them out directly without activated PvP. Players find clever ways to use nature against the bots. A clip is currently being hotly discussed in the community.
What are these bots? On some servers in New World, there are fishing bots that stand by the water and do nothing but fish for hours. Many players are annoyed by this state of affairs and wish that New World implements a system to detect and punish these bots.
As long as there are no automatic bans, players intervene themselves and trick the bots. They take them out with wildlife and ruin their business. A new clip regarding this method is going viral in the community.
Players celebrate the hunter but advise caution
This is shown in the clip: On reddit, dawiss2 shares a video from his gaming session.
It is titled “Day 1: Kill fishing bots every day until Amazon bans them.”
The video lasts about 2 minutes and 19 seconds and shows dawiss2 drawing the aggro of wildlife to himself (or the bots themselves) and thus killing the bots. Many of the wildlife in New World have a storm attack that deals damage to hit targets. So, if you stand in such a way that another player is between the wildlife and yourself, that player takes damage.
After the wild wolf has taken out the first bot, it focuses on dawiss2. He then cleverly positions himself next to the next bot and lets this one be taken out too with the help of the wildlife and through clever positioning.

This is how well it is received: In about one day, the video gathered over 6,500 upvotes and more than 800 comments. In the community, this is a hot topic. However, not all 800 comments are full of praise.
Many players report their own experiences with fishing. The difference between a bot and a “real” angler is sometimes not so easy to see.
Players warn about this: In the comments, the community states that not every character rooted in place and fishing is a bot.
“I fish a lot because it is relaxing, and I worry about this. Recently, a guy pulled two alligators to me. I then put away my rod, killed and skinned the alligators, unpacked my rod again, and continued fishing. He probably thought I was a bot as well,” writes Tayasea.
In addition, Obuse-Fishing writes that bots can be easily distinguished from normal players. Bots always cast the line and only reel it in when their software tells them that a valuable chest is attached. “The rest of us cast and catch, cast and catch, cast and catch.”
Are you wondering why fishing is so popular? The diverse gameplay is not the reason. But if you want to be strong in New World, you simply have to fish.
