The developers of New World have revealed when the Aeternum version will officially start in our region and what changes are planned for the already existing servers.
When does New World Aeternum launch?
- All European servers for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC will open on October 15, 2024, at 9:00 AM.
- The preload for consoles begins on October 13, 2024, at 9:00 AM for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
- PC players can download New World: Aeternum during the downtime on October 15, 2024.
What changes are coming to New World’s servers?
- Every new world released with the console will be a “standard world”.
- The current “standard worlds” and “new starting worlds” will become “old worlds” once New World: Aeternum is released.
What about character transfers to other servers? To give players on the new worlds a chance to build their own community there, characters from old worlds cannot be transferred to the new standard worlds.
However, it is possible to transfer characters from the new standard worlds to an old world. Note: Once transferred characters in old worlds cannot return to standard worlds.
Characters from standard worlds can also be transferred to other standard worlds, as long as the target world is not full or blocked for other reasons. As for creating new characters, this is possible on all old and new worlds that are not marked as “Full” or “No In Transfer”.
The official trailer for New World Aeternum:
Is there crossplay and cross-progression?
Can I play with my friends who use different platforms? Yes. New World: Aeternum supports crossplay and allows you to play together on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Steam (PC) in the same world. More information on the exceptions can be found below.
Does New World Aeternum support cross-progression? No. In New World: Aeternum, characters are tied to the platform on which they were created. For example, if you create a character on PlayStation 5, you cannot play it on Xbox Series X|S or Steam (PC).
Are there servers just for consoles? Yes. Players on PlayStation 5 can create characters on exclusive PlayStation standard worlds, while players on Xbox Series X|S can create characters on exclusive Xbox Series X|S standard worlds. These worlds will only be accessible to players on the respective platforms and do not allow crossplay with other platforms.
Important: If you want to play on such a platform-specific world, you must turn off the crossplay setting. Platform-specific worlds are not visible while crossplay is enabled. You can turn off the feature in the “Social” tab in settings under “Cross-Play”.
Are there requirements for New World Aeternum? To receive the overhaul and the associated content, you need the base game of New World and the first expansion “Rise of the Angry Earth”. Players who already own both on Steam will receive a free upgrade to the Aeternum version on October 15, 2024.
Players on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S can simply purchase the new version in the shop. The same applies if you do not yet own New World and/or the expansion “Rise of the Angry Earth” on PC—you can either buy the complete package or, if you have at least purchased the base game, secure the expansion afterwards. You can find all further information about the release, the map, new content, the PC version, and more in our overview of New World Aeternum.
