On October 15, 2024, New World Aeternum will officially launch on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. To keep you informed about whether you can play or not, we will keep you updated in our live ticker about the status of the new (and old) servers around the launch.

7:51 PM
Friends of the sun. This is my last update for today. The peak is currently at 52,580 simultaneous active Steam users playing New World Aeternum. We haven’t seen such numbers since October 2023. We are still far from the heights of six-digit player counts.
Not bad. The launch was pretty smooth and I’m looking forward to leveling a bit on one of the new servers. I wish you all a lot of fun in Aeternum!
7:00 PM
Amazon Games has launched Crossplay Server No. 12: Taurus. For PlayStation and Xbox, there is still only one exclusive server each without Crossplay feature. The milestone of 50,000+ simultaneous active players has been reached on Steam.
6:58 PM
The list of known issues for the launch of New World Aeternum is long. Very long:
4:53 PM
The evening shift is upon us and my delighted eyes spot a whole series of new servers for the Europe region. The number of Crossplay worlds has grown to 11 with Siren, Asterion, and Andrometus.
With Apus, Aries, Asterion, Sagitta, Phoenix, and Draco, there are currently six full worlds. The number of simultaneous active Steam users has risen to 43,513.
2:28 PM
Short interim update from the live servers: I was able to play on Steam for almost two hours without issues. There’s a lot happening, other characters are hopping around in the game world. The number of Crossplay servers for the EU remains at eight. Currently, almost 24,000 players are playing simultaneously on Steam, plus the consoles. How is it going for you?
12:33 PM
I’ll only sporadically check the server status for a few hours now, but I’ll be back during prime time when most people are enjoying their evening and might want to check out New World.
12:05 PM
New World Aeternum has once again surpassed 20,000 on Steam, with 20,004 players online simultaneously in Aeternum (via steamdb.info).
11:25 AM
The European server family continues to grow. The next Crossplay realm has come to light with Sagitta. Currently, there are four full worlds with Apus, Aries, Phoenix, and Draco. The three old servers, Aaru, Kronos, and Nysa, seem, not surprisingly, to attract fewer players.
10:52 AM
According to the official server status website (via newworld.com), the three EU worlds Aaru, Kronos, and Nysa were briefly in a maintenance phase. They are now back online.
Meanwhile, there was an update for Xbox players: A hotfix for the login issue is ready and will be implemented. Xbox players who are online may experience a brief timeout.
10:36 AM
Amazon Games is expanding the number of EU servers for New World Aeternum. Crossplay Server No. 7 has just gone live with Phoenix. Currently, there are three full worlds with Apus, Aries, and Draco.
10:24 AM
While the launch of New World Aeternum is causing an increase in players on Steam, it is still quite low – obviously, not too many players took time off for the launch. According to steamdb.info, there are currently 16,651 Steam users online in New World.
10:22 AM
Meanwhile, Aries and Draco are showing as Full (character creation is not available).
10:17 AM
On X, the developers report that some Xbox players are having trouble starting New World Aeternum. The issue is currently being investigated.
10:15 AM
The situation on Aries seems to have calmed down, whereas Draco is marked as Full (character creation is not available).
9:38 AM
Ah, Amazon Games has added the official names of the pure console servers:
- PlayStation 5: Mardi
- Xbox Series: Iroko
9:35 AM
There are now six servers for the EU Central region: Aries, Draco, Kronos, Nysa, Aaru, and – brand new – Apus. The world Aries is marked as Full (character creation is not available).
9:15 AM
Unfortunately, the official channels have no details about the new servers for PlayStation and Xbox, which are only available when Crossplay is disabled. Is anyone playing the console version and could share the respective server names in the comments?
9:11 AM
We quickly played through the tutorial and were able to reach the starter zone on PC without any issues, where we first encounter other players. Here it looks like this:
9:03 AM
Ladies and gentlemen, it’s shortly after 9:00 AM. What are the servers doing? Well, they are live on Steam. Crowds are already forming on Aries and Draco. Kronos, Nysa, and Aaru went online a bit later.
8:50 AM
The servers are supposed to go live in ten minutes; we are curious if everything will run smoothly. Are you too?
8:41 AM
Just like in Throne and Liberty, there can also be community events in New World involving a large number of characters. This is shown in a video on Reddit from March 2022:
8:31 AM
To all PC players, note: You can only get the Aeternum update for free if you own the base game as well as the expansion “Rise of the Angry Earth”! All console players will have to purchase the Aeternum package containing both content.
8:24 AM
If you want to pass the time in the last minutes until the launch of New World Aeternum, here are the complete and very detailed patch notes with all changes and new features for the MMORPG:
7:47 AM
Nice, some players said goodbye to the old version of New World last night:
7:40 AM
Important: If you want to play on a platform-specific world for PlayStation or Xbox, you need to disable the Crossplay setting on your console.
Platform-specific worlds will not be visible while Crossplay is enabled. You can disable the feature in the “Social” tab in the settings under “Cross-Play”.
6:50 AM
A beautiful good morning! The ticking Karsten is here to keep an eye on the launch of New World Aeternum on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox Series. Currently, all twelve servers of the four regions are in maintenance. It is unclear how many servers will be added at launch at 9:00 AM.
You need to know: On Tuesday, October 15, 2024, New World Aeternum, the revamped version of the MMORPG from Amazon Games, will launch for Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
All European servers for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC are set to go live at 9:00 AM. The preload for consoles has been ongoing since October 13, 2024. PC players can download New World: Aeternum during the downtime on October 15, 2024.
Current news about the server status can also be found on the official X channel of New World Aeternum or in the server status section of the official Discord channel. Additionally, there is an overview of the current server status on the official website of the MMORPG. You can find this overview on newworld.com.
What changes with the servers of New World?
- Every new world released with the console will be a “standard world”.
- The current “standard worlds” and “new starter worlds” will become “old worlds” as soon as New World: Aeternum is released.

The gameplay trailer for the launch of New World Aeternum:
What do I need to know about New World Aeternum? To receive the overhaul along with the associated content, you need the base game of New World and the first expansion “Rise of the Angry Earth”. Players who already own both on Steam will receive a free upgrade to the Aeternum version on October 15, 2024.
Players on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S can simply purchase the new version in the shop. The same applies if you have not yet purchased New World and/or the expansion “Rise of the Angry Earth” on PC – then you can either buy the complete package or, if you have at least purchased the base game, secure the expansion later.
New World: Aeternum supports crossplay and allows you to play together in the same world on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Steam (PC). In New World: Aeternum characters are bound to the platform on which they were created. For example, if you create a character on PlayStation 5, you cannot play it on Xbox Series X|S or Steam (PC). You can find all other information about the release, the map, new content, PC version, and more in our overview of New World Aeternum.
