The new Warframe Khora summons her own cat, which can even be controlled by the player. Digital Extremes presented Khora’s skills in Devstream 103. The studio also revealed that the new frame lady is coming to the online shooter in 2018.
The developers at Digital Extremes first showcased Khora’s abilities in the video during Devstream 103 . The cat lady has the following special properties:
- an exalted whip. This means that Khora has a weapon by default.
- she can switch damage types between impact, puncture, and slash.
- Khora summons her own cat. The Kavat can be controlled by the player and is independent of the pets.
In the stream, the skills and characteristics of Khora were examined in more detail. In the image below, Khora’s Kavat, named Venari, can be seen. The cat can be customized in appearance and can also be equipped with modifications.
Khora’s abilities: How the whip, Kavat & damage switcher work
Like every Warframe, Khora has four unique abilities available to her when she enters the battlefield. The names of the abilities are currently only known in English.
Ability 1 – Phase Lash:
- When activating the first ability Khora switches between damage types impact, puncture, and slash.
- When switching types, Khora’s appearance changes color to indicate what damage type she is currently dealing.
- If you hold down the button for ability 1, Khora’s whip lashes out. The whip deals the type of damage that the player has currently selected. This is an AoE damage and thus has a high area of effect.
Ability 2 – Ensnare:

- When Khora casts Ensnare on an enemy, multiple foes in the vicinity are drawn in
- Enemies are immobilized when pulled in
- This attack deals damage over a longer duration
Ability 3 – Call Venari

- Venari is Khora’s own Kavat and can be summoned onto the battlefield
- If ability 3 is activated once Venari is summoned, the player can command the Kavat
- Venari also adapts her damage and appearance to Khora’s selected damage type
- Venari receives her own section in the player’s arsenal. Here, the Kavat’s appearance can be changed and modifications can be applied.
Ability 4 – Exalted Phasewhip

- This ability was not presented in the livestream
- Exalted Phasewhip translates somewhat to “Exalted Phase Whip” in German. It can be assumed that this ability has something to do with Khora’s whip.

Khora coming in 2018 – An exact release date is still unknown
Digital Extremes revealed in a roadmap what announcements are still to be made regarding Warframe in 2017. Khora is only planned for 2018, and an exact release date is not yet known. Along with the new Warframe, new weapons and cosmetics will also be introduced into the game.
The roadmap also announced that the housing expansion on the spaceship is coming in 2017!
