Next week, a new shooter starts on Steam that aims to portray combat as authentically as possible.
What kind of game is this? A new shooter named “Direct Contact” will be released on Steam next week, on December 13, 2023, in Early Access. The game aims to authentically simulate modern warfare while providing a realistic experience when handling weapons.
The gameplay of Direct Contact is designed for players to cooperatively infiltrate enemy territory in various missions and eliminate the opposing forces.
You will take on the roles of various special forces from around the world and coordinate your actions with your teammates. However, your enemies are also expected to coordinate their actions and communicate with one another. Moreover, your opponents will actively attempt to flank you in order to eliminate you.

Intense realism in explosions and… doors
What defines the gameplay? One of the most important properties of the gameplay is the pursuit of authenticity and realism. The developers aim to achieve this with realistic weapon sounds, animations, and the intricacies of bullet physics.
According to the Steam page for Direct Contact, the developers are in contact with real veterans to learn from their expertise in tactics and weapon sounds.
In implementing the most realistic gameplay possible, the developers also focused on immersive explosions, for example, when you call in an airstrike with an A10 Warthog or a Eurofighter.
The same applies to doors and how you open them. Here, Direct Contact resembles games like Ready or Not: you can blow up, swing wide open, or cautiously inch open the door to gather information.
Will there be PvP? We cannot say for sure at the moment, but on Steam, the developers added “Online PvP” as a keyword to describe their game, alongside “Online Coop” and “LAN Coop”.
However, apart from the mention of the keyword “Online PvP”, there is currently no information regarding whether PvP is still planned, what it would look like in the game, and whether it will be part of the Early Access launch on December 13.
