In the current beta of Call of Duty: Vanguard, you can try out a new game mode. It is called Patrol and offers you the gameplay of the well-known Hardpoint mode with a dynamic twist. Read here on MeinMMO everything we know so far about the new mode.
What kind of game mode is this? The new game mode in CoD: Vanguard is called Patrol and can currently be played in the beta. In this mode, it runs similarly to the Hardpoint mode known from earlier titles. The only difference is that there is only one Hardpoint that does not disappear, but rather moves continuously along a designated path on the map.
However, to prevent matches from becoming boring, the point eventually disappears and reappears somewhere else on the map. Therefore, you must always keep moving to have an advantage over your enemies on the maps.
A new mode that rewards aggressive gameplay
What are the features of Patrol? The Hardpoint is always moving but does not disappear. This means you must be even faster and camping on the maps in this mode is even less effective.
In regular Hardpoint, you could at least hunker down at the point until it disappeared. Here, however, the point is always moving away, and you must adjust to its pace if you want to collect enough points.
On the other hand, the position of the point is quite predictable, and those who strategically use certain killstreaks, like a bomb drop, can potentially wipe out an entire enemy team for a time.
What kind of combat behavior is required here? Patrol rewards players who are constantly on the move and want to quickly adapt to new tactical situations. Those who enjoy this fast, tactically flexible playstyle will surely get their money’s worth here.
How does this align with the new Combat Pacings? Combat Pacings are a new feature of Vanguard. There are three modes that change your game fundamentally by simply throwing many more players onto a map designed for fewer people.
- Tactical: This is the classic CoD experience with 6vs6 players
- Assault: This mode features between 20 – 28 players on a map
- Blitz: Between 28 and 48 players duke it out here
A round of Patrol in Blitz mode can get extremely crazy when nearly 50 players are battling on a map intended for 6vs6.
