Minecraft is getting an automated system for sorting storage rooms. Copper Golems are bustling around and are really useful.
Minecraft has become larger and more complex over the years. From a handful of different blocks, there are now hundreds of different ones – and there are many more materials, whether in their original form or processed. Keeping track of everything and sorting all the possessions can be exhausting.
But Minecraft has announced a solution: Soon there will be Copper Golems that will bustle around your base and sort your chests!

How do you create a Copper Golem? Creating a Copper Golem is quite simple. You only need a block of copper and a pumpkin lantern. Once you place the pumpkin lantern on the copper block, the little Copper Golem will appear – along with a first copper chest that also teaches you the recipe to build more.

How does the Copper Golem work? As of now, the Copper Golem searches a radius of 36 blocks around its location for copper chests. If it discovers a copper chest, it will head to it and take all items from there (a maximum of 16 stacks). Then the Copper Golem looks for regular chests and automatically sorts these items into them.
It only puts items in chests that are either completely empty or already contain items of the same type. So, for example, it would never put wood in a chest that has only stones in it.
Or to put it simply: The Copper Golem sorts all items from copper chests into your regular chests.
The days of having to distribute your entire inventory into dozens of chests for several minutes are over!
While there were already ways to build an automated sorting system, it required a good understanding of redstone – and at the same time, you had to use up a lot of space to connect the sorting system to a warehouse.
When will the Copper Golem be released? There is no specific release date for the Copper Golem yet, but the next major patch is scheduled for autumn 2025 – until then, you can at least try out the Copper Golem in the test version.
