While many fans of Asian online RPGs are waiting for Throne and Liberty, Tarisland, Blue Protocol, and ArcheAge 2, a new Asian MMORPG called Eternal Soul has quietly gone live. The MeinMMO editorial team presents the new release.
What do I need to know about Eternal Soul? The new MMORPG celebrated its official server launch on April 12, 2024, and is available for download on PC as well as iOS and Android devices. Core features include:
- The hunt for bosses to earn legendary equipment.
- A crafting system that allows you to create “godlike” weapons.
- There are supposed to be epic siege battles.
- Players trade through an auction system.
- You can take on contracts as a bounty hunter.
- There are six classes: Warrior, Warlock, Paladin, Rogue, Sorceress, and Archer.
Where can I watch gameplay of Eternal Soul? Unfortunately, the official trailers are not useful for getting a first impression. Therefore, we recommend the almost 23-minute long video from the YouTuber MR. Boneflow Channel, which shows you character creation and the introduction.
The video nicely shows that Eternal Soul comes with many quirks that you might also recognize from other (mobile) MMORPGs from Asia:
- Genderlock (classes are tied to specific genders).
- Messages that inform you in the center of your field of view that other players have received something great.
- You will be showered with rewards and currencies from the first second.
- There are various auto-functions for automatic hunting and looting, automated use of consumables, and counterattacks.
- High grind factor.
- Pets that can be collected, fused, and sent on expeditions.
- Chance systems like roulette.
- And of course: a well-stocked in-game shop with all kinds of microtransactions. Whether Eternal Soul is pay-to-win, we cannot say with certainty yet.
Here you will find three MMORPG alternatives that are much played:
Consider yourselves warned
Who is behind Eternal Soul? This question is actually not so easy to answer. On the official website and on various other channels (Discord and Facebook), we found no information about the studio behind Eternal Soul.
Besides English, Thai is the second supported language on the website. In the installation guide for the iOS version, it is supposed to confirm a Chinese steel manufacturer called Beijing Shougang Co., Ltd. as a trustworthy source.
The website appears quite unprofessional, as there are more spelling mistakes than basic information about the game and its creators. For example, there are three short trailers, one of which promises “the deadliest MMORPG,” but they all show generic, nonsensical scenes.
Additionally, there have so far been few news updates or guides. Installation instructions for Android or PC are currently missing. However, you can learn how to spend even more money in the game through Discord resellers. Long story short: save yourself the download and look for other games to bridge the waiting time for Throne and Liberty, Tarisland, Blue Protocol, or ArcheAge 2.
For example, you might want to check WoW again, as a lot is happening there right now: This summer, a PC MMORPG could have more than 10 million active players again after years
