Fortnite presents a cool, shiny golden pickaxe as a new item for the “Battle Royale” mode. However, only selected players are allowed to wield the pickaxe.
What kind of item is this? Epic Games has now introduced the “Axe of Champions” pickaxe to players. A large, gold-plated pickaxe that should stand out in the game when a player is using it. But there is a catch. The item cannot be purchased like regular pickaxe bundles in the shop. Only selected players are allowed to use it.
Only 28 players around the world have access to it.
Axe of Champions exclusively for the best players
Who can use the pickaxe? The Axe of Champions is the official FNCS trophy. Only the current FNCS champions have access to the item. It is therefore exclusive to the champions of Season 2 in Chapter 2.
Recently, Epic Games (via epicgames.com) announced the 28 professionals who have earned the title and the associated reward.
The letters “FNCS” stand for “Fortnite Champion Series”. The tournament has also garnered attention due to cheaters:
- One pro cheated in FNCS and caught himself via Twitch stream
- Then Fortnite banned 4 more pros who weren’t as clever as they thought,
How long can players use the pickaxe? They can hold onto it until the next champions are determined. Fortnite states, “Every champion will eventually be dethroned.” After each FNCS finals, the pickaxe will be passed on to the new champions.
It doesn’t matter in which format the tournament is played.
However, there is one exception:
To properly celebrate all previous FNCS champions, we are making a one-time exception. During the upcoming FNCS Invitational tournament, we will equip all previous and current champions with the Axe of Champions in the locker. They may keep the pickaxe for as long as this special event lasts.
