The new Gameplay trailer for Crimson Desert takes many players’ breath away and ignites excitement. However, there is a little downside: there will likely be no character editor.
Must it be Jon Snow? The setting of the new open-world adventure from Pearl Abyss is beautiful, everyone agrees on that. Not only does the graphics impress numerous players, but the combat scenes and even details like the depiction of leaves (via YouTube) can convince. However, the game does not offer a character editor.
Instead, you play a protagonist who bears a slight resemblance to the popular King in the North named Jon Snow from the successful TV series Game Of Thrones. The landscapes in Crimson Desert, as well as the western-influenced fantasy setting, remind GOT fans of their favorite series.

Pre-made character or character editor? Not everyone likes to go into battle with a pre-made character, as it takes away the possibility of skins and individual character creation. Here are some example comments:

Actually, the young man’s name in the game is Kliff and not Jon. He wanders through the world of Pywel in the latest gameplay video from IGN via YouTube and faces some challenges. The game will likely focus more on a good story, but there are also exciting fights and idyllic landscapes to see in the latest video.
How does MeinMMO editor Karsten Scholz assess the limitation? Having to play the predefined character Kliff in Crimson Desert is a missed opportunity. After all, Pearl Abyss developed one of the most powerful and customizable character editors in the MMORPG genre (and beyond) for Black Desert.
It would have been great if you could also be creatively free for hours in the character creation of the new game from the Black Desert makers, or at least if there had been the option of a female protagonist – as a compromise.
The Future of the Game
What’s next? Crimson Desert will surely have a lot to offer. The game is still in development, so it’s hard to say what is to come. However, even now the graphics make fans’ hearts beat faster.
Overall, players of Crimson Desert are very convinced. Unfortunately, the game does not yet have a release date and is therefore still waiting. However, it is expected to be released sometime in 2025.
