A horror game, Silent Hill 2, is supposed to be released for PC and PS5 in 2023. However, the system requirements are surprisingly high. Some players are already fearing that the PC version may be anything but optimized.
System requirements for games are always important for PC players. This is where they see if games run properly on their computers. However, the new game Silent Hill 2 is currently causing a stir among players.
Because even high settings in Full HD require a really fast graphics card. Many complain that this cannot be right.
Silent Hill with high system requirements on PC
What are many players complaining about? The developers posted a screenshot with the system requirements for Silent Hill 2 (via reddit.com). For “recommended settings” on high and 30 FPS, you need an RTX 2080 or an RX 6800 XT. The RX 6800 XT is considered a high-end graphics card and is, after the RX 6900 XT (and its 6950 refresh), the fastest GPU in the 6000 series. The RTX 2080 is not quite as fast anymore and falls behind more significantly compared to the RTX 3080, but is still completely sufficient for many Full HD games.
However, the announcement is causing a lot of frustration among gamers. Someone wrote on reddit: “Probably not even real speed with 30 FPS, but just some terrible slideshow.”
Many believe that the game’s requirements are so high only because the developers aren’t taking the time to optimize it. The game would then run flawlessly on the PS5, but on the PC, one would have to deal with frame drops and technical bugs.
Countless PC games feel abandoned. And this is not the first time in 2023.
“Will there be the most ‘Sorry’ letters of all time in 2023?”
What does the current situation look like? So far, 2023 has not been a good year for PC players. Many games are released in technically disastrous condition. Lord of the Rings: Gollum or Star Wars: Jedi Survivor, to name just 2 of these games, both released in a broken state and caused only head shaking among PC players. Some already know the solution, even if it hurts:
I simply do not buy games that are not optimized for PC. Why should I reward them [the developers] by buying the game on PS5 when the platform on which I actually want to play the game is being neglected?
One person has already asked on reddit, “Will there be the most ‘Sorry’ letters of all time in 2023?” This refers to the fact that all developer studios have published a statement where they apologize for the condition of the game. However, many gamers do not want an apology letter but simply a game that works flawlessly at release.
