Shortly before the big livestream for Destiny 2, more information about the alleged new expansion “Shadowkeep” has emerged. The Microsoft Store is said to have briefly displayed the expansion, but has since deactivated the page. Allegedly, players will team up with Eris Morn to eliminate nightmares that aim to push humanity back into the age of darkness.
What new information is there? Allegedly, the Microsoft Store prematurely revealed more information about the possible new Destiny 2 expansion Shadowkeep. The game was displayed in the store for a short time, but was subsequently removed. Numerous US sites managed to get their hands on the alleged details beforehand.
According to the description, Shadowkeep is supposed to revolve around the following scenario:
New nightmares have emerged from the shadows of our moon. Eris Morn has returned, called by haunting visions. Join her to slay these nightmares before they extend beyond the moon to plunge humanity back into an age of darkness.
For the new expansion, it is allegedly not necessary to own any of the previous Destiny 2 expansions to buy or play the new content. Players should be able to jump directly into the content of Year 3.
In addition to new items, weapons, and armor, Shadowkeep is also said to feature a new raid and another dungeon. This might be in the same format as The Broken Throne.

When is the expansion supposed to be released? The release date has been set for September 17. However, this date has recently been postponed to October 1. At the same time, the base game of Destiny 2 is allegedly going to be free-to-play.
According to a US website, Destiny 2 will then be renamed to “Destiny 2: New Light”. The base game will be free, but additional content can be purchased.
What editions are available? Along with the synopsis of the game and the release date, possible editions of the expansion have also been shown.
Players who pre-order the Standard Edition of Shadowkeep will receive the exotic rocket launcher Two-Tailed Fox and an exclusive Hive ornament.

Alternatively, there is a Digital Deluxe Edition that includes the following goodies:
- Four season passes, each offering a unique set of exclusive seasonal activities, artifacts, and rewards
- Exclusive items themed around Eris Morn: exotic emote, exotic ghost shell, emblem
Players who do not yet own Destiny 2 can purchase it together in a bundle with Shadowkeep according to the shop page. All pre-orders of this bundle enable immediate access to the game and the two DLCs “Curse of Osiris” and “Warmind”.
This information, however, seems to contradict rumors that the base game of Destiny 2 will be free with the release of Shadowkeep.
