Spells & Secrets will be a new, adorable couch co-op game. It comes from a German developer and is set to enter early access on Nintendo Switch and Steam in summer 2022.
What kind of game is it? Spells & Secrets is an upcoming action-adventure game. It comes from the German development studio Rokaplay, known for cute games like Zombie Solitaire and a colorful building game called Stranded Sail.
Spells & Secrets features clear Harry Potter references. You play as a first-grader who has just been accepted into the Greifenstein School of Magic. However, strange creatures have overrun the campus and you must uncover further secrets within the ancient walls.

Light-hearted Couch Co-op Gaming with Random Levels and Spell Combinations
What are the special features? Spells & Secrets looks incredibly cute and charming, impressing with its adorable comic graphics and the Harry Potter-inspired design of its setting. According to Steam, the game also has the following features:
- You can customize your wizard student from a variety of options.
- The magical Greifenstein School is procedurally generated, and each run offers new levels.
- Your spells are not only weapons against the rampaging monsters, but you can also solve puzzles and discover interesting combos.
- Your heroes can continue to level up and improve in the game.
Additionally, there will be an optional 2-player co-op mode. You can play it comfortably on the couch or online via Steam Remote Play. Controls are possible with both mouse and keyboard and controller.
When will it be released? A specific release date for Spells & Secrets has not yet been announced. On Steam, however, it states that the game is set to enter early access in summer 2022. Additionally, a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for Spells & Secrets will soon begin, which you can find under this link.
Which platforms are supported? So far, according to the developers, the platforms Steam and Nintendo’s Switch console are planned for Spells & Secrets.
How are players reacting? On reddit, the news of the upcoming release of Spells & Secrets has been well received. Many users are excited about a game in the Harry Potter style that they can also comfortably play on the couch in co-op.
