From homework to home building – in life simulations, we control more or less normal life. For a long time, EA with its series “The Sims” was the absolute market leader in this area. But that is about to change. With its ultra-realistic graphics, competitor “InZOI” can already impress.
What is “InZOI”?
- The life simulation from the Korean developer “Krafton” is set to be released in 2024.
- “Krafton” has already made a name for itself with the battle royale game “PUBG“.
- The platforms on which “InZOI” will be released are not yet known.

A graphical blockbuster
The feature that stands out first in “InZOI” is the realistic graphics. While “The Sims” looks like a cheerful cartoon, the Korean competitor aims for realism. For this, developer “Krafton” is using the Unreal Engine 5.
This will especially please fans of character creation and passionate Sims architects and interior designers. Because never have their own creations looked as good as in “InZOI”.
New concepts and familiar mechanics
In an interview, game producer Hyung Jun Kim explains the concept of the game. The player takes management of an entire neighborhood and controls the “ZOIs” living there.
The game chose a new approach primarily with its job system. The work of the “ZOIs” features more gameplay mechanics and seems overall more important than in most Sims installments.
In a “Director Mode”, it is also possible to edit the neighborhood as such. Decorations at the roadside, billboards, and even the weather – all this can be customized as desired.
The customization options for clothing and furniture are also very diverse. Colors and patterns can be changed individually, and some furniture pieces are modifiable.
A difference from EA’s “The Sims” is the Korean setting. For example, in the gameplay trailer, we see Korean street food stands and traditional houses.
What similarities are there? Despite fresh approaches, Sims fans will likely find many things familiar. Above all, the basic concept of a life simulation remains the same. We control our characters, pursue hobbies, earn money, build relationships, and maybe even start a family.
Also, the character editor and building menu are similar in appearance to those of the Sims installments.
Many small details also evoke nostalgia: a cozy painting hour, a jam session with friends, and a burning stove. That makes one’s heart melt.
Whether the game has a chance against the possibly also upcoming release of “The Sims 5” in 2024 remains to be seen. However, for genre fans, “InZOI” is certainly worth a look.
