On Steam a new co-op shooter starts today. It reminds gameplay-wise of a very specific part of the Doom series, visually more like World of Warcraft. As in any good raid, decent loot and huge bosses are waiting for you.
Which game is being talked about? It is Afterblast, a first-person shooter from developer Lumino Games. The game combines roguelite elements with randomly generated dungeons, which you can blast through alone or in co-op.
Afterblast releases today, on November 26, 2025, on Steam. The game starts in early access, meaning that it is not yet in its final state.

What is the game about? You have been teleported to the realm of an evil god to save your home planet. Previously, you were blessed with immortality by your creator to ensure you achieve your goal – no matter how many times you have to try.
In the fight against the minions of the evil god, you collect a lot of gear with magical powers that influence your playstyle. With found crystals, you collect permanent bonuses that you retain even when your character kicks the bucket.

Why the comparison to Doom and WoW? Gameplay-wise, Afterblast in the previous trailers resembles Doom Eternal from 2020. Both games focus on a similarly fast pace, weakened enemies can be taken out with melee finishers, and there is again a grappling hook to pull yourself towards enemies.
Visually, Afterblast looks like someone rebuilt World of Warcraft in 2025, says a comment under the official gameplay trailer on YouTube. A certain resemblance cannot be denied: both games showcase a similarly stylized look and the color palette also resembles WoW.
The huge boss enemies you face in Afterblast also remind of the final boss of an MMORPG raid. Each collected boss soul increases difficulty and unlocks new challenges, as well as weapons and items.
Co-op games that take individual aspects from MMORPGs and turn them into standalone titles are currently quite popular on Steam. This is also the approach of Fellowship.
