The cooperative shooter, FBC: Firebreak, started on June 17, 2025, on Steam. After considerable criticism from players, the developer finally announces improvements with the first major update.
What is FBC: Firebreak? In this cooperative shooter, you must complete several missions with your friends at the headquarters of the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC). You will be disturbed by paranormal anomalies or hordes of enemies.
As a first responder of the FBC, it is your duty to free the headquarters from any monsters. You can choose from various weapons and assemble your own builds with different equipment.

What are the major issues with the game? On Steam, FBC: Firebreak has a 66% positive rating, which is only balanced. The reviews criticize the following points:
- The game offers little help to ease the entry for new players
- The missions have little variety, are too short, and quickly become boring
- The layouts of the maps are often the same and quickly feel stretched
- Some gameplay mechanics have little impact on the proceedings
These are only the biggest problems with FBC: Firebreak, along with other minor issues such as a low number of enemy types. With the first major update named Breakpoint, set to be released on September 29, 2025, the developers aim to address these issues.
A better tutorial and new crises are meant to refresh the game
What do the developers want to change with the Breakpoint update? In their blog post on Steam, the developers already provide first insights into the new major update. The complete patch notes will be published on September 29. The main changes include:
- Instead of the previous job board, there will be a so-called crisis board, providing more variety in missions and reducing repetitions
- The entry will also be improved to teach new players the mechanics of FBC: Firebreak instead of throwing them into the deep end
- More depth and variety for builds, with new weapons, grenades, and perks being introduced
How exactly do the developers plan to bring more variety to the game? Particularly the new crises are meant to add variety to the daily routine of the FBC first responders. What was previously just an offering of the same missions will become a rotation of different crises, which will be the same for all players and will refresh every 30 minutes.
There will also be different types of the new crises. There are normal jobs that are a bit longer or the so-called quick jobs, which consist of only a few zones and can be played quickly. The corrupted jobs are also new and add special modifiers.
With the new update, the developers want to address the biggest issues of their game. Besides updates like this one or big releases like Borderlands 4, several great games have also been released on Steam in September.
