In Dune: Awakening the developers have implemented a change on the test server that should please many fans. It finally allows saying goodbye to the game.
What kind of change is this? In Dune: Awakening the developers have uploaded a new patch to the game’s test server. Among the many changes, there is also one that allows many to finally stop playing the game.
The stated change increases the space for items in the locker, and the maximum weight of the vault is increased as well. Instead of 25 items, after the patch, 500 items can fit in it. The weight limit increases from 1,500 to 30,000. An important change considering the effort many players put in week after week.
Here you can see what a new update in Dune: Awakening can trigger:
End of the Hamster Wheel
What does this change bring? In Dune: Awakening players have to take care of their base weekly. For this, they need to log in regularly and refill fuel in the generators as well as pay taxes. If this is neglected, for example because one is on vacation for a long time, the base starts to be gradually destroyed by sandstorms as the shields are no longer active.
This mechanic ensures that players have to log in every week since the release, not only to save their buildings but also their items. The locker was so small that you could only save the most important things for a long time and would have to start almost from scratch upon restarting.
The current change, on the other hand, allows players to finally say goodbye to their base and simply store many items in the locker before leaving the survival MMO. The base itself will not be saved, but at least re-entry will then be much easier.
When will the change come? The change is currently still on the test server and is therefore not final yet. As with most changes on the test server, however, it should be implemented in the game with the October patch for Dune: Awakening.
Since this is still not an announced change, it may happen that the values will change again or the increase will be completely dropped. However, this has almost never happened in the past.
With the new change, the developers of Dune: Awakening are helping many players to have a better restart in the game. Additionally, this could also be a first step towards server merging by already providing more ways to secure items outside of bases. With the major update Chapter 2, many returnees felt like this: Dune: Awakening attracts players back with a new update, but they are now asking: Where is my base?
