Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen are among the currently most popular animes. However, in 2024, a major competitor could emerge with Kaiju No. 8, which is about gigantic monsters and a clumsy hero.
What happens in Kaiju No. 8?

- Childhood friends Kafka and Mina swear to one day make it into the elite unit

Kafka is depicted in the trailer as a rather chubby and gluttonous protagonist. However, on one fateful day, he encounters a parasite that flies into his mouth. Kafka can then transform himself into a Kaiju and tries again to be accepted into the elite team.
We can already imagine the hilarious situations this will lead to, and that exciting battles await us. Especially with the premise that his childhood friend has to hunt the Kaiju, we are already looking forward to the course of the story.
The trailer also shows how brutal the series is. After the slaughters with the monsters, their innards and blood are scattered around. As a crime scene cleaner, it will presumably be no easy task to get rid of the meters-long intestines.
Kaiju No. 8 has great chances of becoming a hit
Currently, the manga is ranked 89th in popularity and has a score of 7.73 out of 10 (via myanimelist.net). On Manga Plus, Kaiju No. 8 is in 12th place among the most-read mangas. There is still some potential for growth, but perhaps Kaiju No. 8 could gain even greater popularity through the anime series.
At the moment, Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer are still ahead. However, both series exhibit a similar brutality in their plot. Another anime that employs this formula and intensifies it is Chainsaw Man. They are all popular action animes where there is a lot of fighting.
Therefore, we believe that Kaiju No. 8 has what it takes to become one of the best anime series of 2024. The manga Kagurabachi has already proven that there is new competition in the Shounen genre.
When does Kaiju No. 8 come out? The anime is set to start in April 2024. Interested viewers will be able to watch the anime exclusively on Crunchyroll. The anime will be available in both the Japanese audio version with German subtitles and as a dubbed version.
