Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr
Perhaps more of a shoot ‘n’ slash than a hack ‘n’ slash – although a lot of hacking also occurs in the Warhammer 40,000 universe…
The action RPG is being developed by the studio that also created the hack ‘n’ slash The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing. The team knows their craft. The Warhammer 40k setting promises to bring fresh air to a genre that is mostly dominated by fantasy worlds.
You are an Inquisitor protecting the Imperium. In the game, you travel across several worlds using a map of the Caligari sector. The game thus offers a kind of campaign, in which you progress from world to world.
You use many weapons including rifles, grenades, but also chainsaw swords, to defeat various enemies like monsters from the realm of chaos and alien-like gene-stealers. The focus is on action-packed and fast battles, which you experience from an isometric perspective. The view can also be zoomed in, making Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr resemble a third-person action game. Cover plays an important role, with different ammunition being able to destroy objects. Your cover can therefore also break under fire.
You experience the adventures either alone or in a 4-player co-op mode. The search for new items and the development of your hero based on skills is as important as expanding a fortress where you can store your loot. The hack ‘n’ slash is expected to be released at the end of this year.
