Neverwinter is based on the Pen & Paper RPG Dungeons & Dragons, and you can now play this tabletop version in the PC version of the MMORPG.
A game within a game, based on the original game – sounds complicated, but it’s fun. In the MMORPG Neverwinter, the mysterious Portobello DaVinci will appear on March 31, wanting to play a game with you. This is a tabletop version of Dungeons & Dragons, where you are not sitting around a table with your friends using dice, pen, paper, and miniatures to have adventures, but rather your heroes from Neverwinter.
Tabletop in the MMORPG
The campaign you can experience is based on a live tabletop session held in front of an audience, which was conducted by the D&D publisher Wizards of the Coast during the PAX East gaming convention in 2015. Something similar was held in 2014 with Respen’s Marvelous Game in the game. Portobello’s campaign takes place on a game board where you must face numerous challenges with your game pieces and fight against monsters.
Your “real” heroes in Neverwinter also have plenty of rewards awaiting them. The trials change weekly. In one week, you might face deadly traps in the dungeon, while in another, an NPC has to be protected.
